Adventures in Annapolis

How is it almost September? Somebody please slow summer down – us Jersey chicks are not ready for sweater weather just yet! But we are always ready for a good road trip! This time we headed off to Annapolis, Maryland’s capital city, right on the Chesapeake Bay.

We had the pleasure of being hosted by Soul – a Southern cuisine hot spot – for a wonderful lunch experience as our first taste of Annapolis. Check back in this Friday for our “Foodie Friday” blog post on all things Soul – you will not want to miss this review – absolutely amazing!

After lunch we headed over to The Westin Annapolis, an upscale 4 star hotel, to check in. The grounds of The Westin were beautiful and the location was perfect – The United States Naval Academy, Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium, historic Annapolis and waterfront are all within minutes! The staff was very friendly and accommodating having our room ready in a timely manner. The concierge happily helped us load our bags and valeted our car.

Before heading up to our room we took a nice walk through the main floor of the hotel. The lobby was pleasantly large – with a lovely bar/lounge with fireplace to relax and unwind after a long day – and on the other side the hotel’s restaurant, Azure.

We were on the 6th floor – with a stunning view of the courtyard and Annapolis National Cemetery.

After we settled in, we hopped over to Six Flags America for dinner (only a 20 minute drive from the hotel – perfect for traveling families). We have season passes and the dining pass so the convenience was perfect. We had just enough time to let the kiddos go on a few rides and grab some ice cream on the way out.

Friday morning we headed over for some bagels at Naval Bagels – a bagel shop a few minutes down the road and again went to Six Flags America for the whole day – this time for the water park as well. Although it was raining – we had the best time! A little water cannot stop our fun.

Friday evening we were hosted at O’Brien’s for a lovely dinner – just an 8 minute drive from The Westin. We will be writing a blog post on that dining experience next week on “Foodie Friday” – keep a lookout!

Afterwards we took a nice walk down by the waterfront and let the boys watch the boats come in and out. If you are ever in Annapolis, Main Street is the happening hot spot at night. The atmosphere was perfection – great weather, friendly people, live music and a beautiful view! What more could you ask for?

Saturday morning we ended up back at Naval Bagels for a quick breakfast (the hotel’s breakfast is a sit down and we wanted to check out the pool before we checked out) so we opted for Naval Bagels – highly recommend! After we finished breakfast, we went down to the lower level and took a nice dip in the pool. Luckily we had the pool to ourselves – the boys were ecstatic! They even had a nice hot tub which Katie took full advantage of.

Thank you to The Westin Annapolis for hosting us for the weekend. We had a fabulous time. Y’all need to make a trip to Annapolis and be sure to stay at this wonderful 4 star hotel. You will not regret it!

We also want to say thank you again to Soul and O’Briens for keeping us fed while in Annapolis. We cannot wait to come back and visit.
